A Strange New Beauty reveals rarely seen, experimental work of Edgar Degas as a printmaker. Using monotypes as a starting point, Degas would trace and draw on top, endlessly reworking compositions. Inspired by this layering, the title wall design forms a constantly mutable background and foreground. We also drew a custom typeface for the show, taking cues from popular typefaces of Degas’ time but with modern touches. Branding and concept were carried out in an extensive advertising campaign and video.
