MoMA's retrospective of Conceptual artist Walid Raad features his photography, videos, sculptures, and performances from the last 25 years. His work explores the fabrication of history within the discourse of war, in which things do not appear as they seem. Design for this show plays with this tension, between an authoritative institutional voice of the Museum, set in a sans serif typeface, versus the artist's voice, set in a serif. Raad’s name is used as a watermark, that begins blending with the Museum signage itself. We worked closely with Raad to develop the exhibition graphics, as well as wall texts, diagrams, and a printed brochure.
